Kerry Bergen
mixed media artist
I consider myself a diverse artist; I explore the experience of processes. So, I have made many different bodies of work; reflections of how I view people, and the colorful world I live in.
My technique goes from mixed media, abstract, to pop art, and folk arts.
I teach at various venues; the South Broadway Cultural Center, City Cultural Services Old Town Events, and the Museum of International Folk Art in Santa Fe. My passion, in this respect, is teaching what I have coined “make and take” cultural crafts.
My mission is to help children and families learn more about the diversity in their world and how we live simultaneously, in multiple cultures with the intention to introduce a concept of art, the tools with which to create it, and to guide them to make beautiful art using their own individual insights.
I teach multicultural and fine arts workshops to children and adults in public and private schools, art centers and museums. I began teaching in 2000, by bringing my own art after school to the community in order to support arts education. I have had the opportunity to work with hundreds of children and families from many diverse cultures through out New Mexico.
